Characters
Five primary characters are introduced in Executioner's Psalms. Erika Adams, the compulsive, determined private investigator who initiates more than she intends. Royal Rivers, the Heron County Sheriff intent on serving the county where he grew up. Dudley Rivers, protector of his family, little brother Royal included, currently struggling with his own personal tragedy. Ward Turner, the most unpredictable of the batch, mischievous to a fault as he ably serves as Royal's right hand. Special Agent Thad Wheeler, former Navy Seal and current leader of the small team formed to catch the criminal Erika Adams discovers.
Locals have always said the best parts of Heron County washed away a century ago or is underwater just a little way from whichever swamp you're currently standing in. It deserves a little more credit than that but the locals aren't entirely wrong. Pirates hid their riches in a much more idealic place than what remains. Even if the locals deny why their small county keeps getting smaller they call out the fact almost every time they have to deal with the next flood.

Ward Turner
The mischievous right-hand man of the current sheriff of Heron County and the previous interim sheriff as well, Ward Turner exudes wealth and privilege, aside from a face that's clearly failed to dodge a few fists or a windshield or two. Though difficult to manage in some ways, no one looks out for Sheriff Rivers and Dudley quite the way Ward does.
