Heron County

Heron County has always been the underfed runt of the coast. Its peak came 40 years ago and was modest at best. Weak regulation of environmental regulations was its strongest selling point in the old days but centralization of larger shipping operations has caused those old business sources to largely dry up. These days, large for profit prison entities view it as a target for expansion of their facilities. Locals are too desperate for any employment opportunities to trifle with NIMBY attitudes that often delay things. Prone to flooding, real estate in much of the area is cheap to acquire and this has led to some reverse gentrification. Prejudice is a constant part of everyone's life.
